Glenn Helms.
Glenn Helms is a fixer par excellence. Glenn could go out all night, afloat in the rarified world of international art bohemia, and still find the necessaries for installing a Nam June Paik exhibition in a disused railway carriage by 9 am the following morning. When Saatchi needs a transit visa to move a Koons sculpture to Moscow he calls Helms. Allegedly Warren Buffett famously needed Coca Cola during a blizzard while holidaying in Alaska – a text to Helms and refreshment descended.
Despite his connections very few photographs exist of Helms and he has never been interviewed. Indeed his life story appears, from certain angles, to be a contemporary fairytale. Rumours abound of his fathering several children. Equally mysterious are the tales of his origins. Again biographers have come up against walls of silence and dead ends.
Clearly this is something of a coup to have Helms involved in Home for the Bewildered and the negotiations have been labyrinthine. Quite why Helms would offer assistance to our organization remains unclear, as with all in the Helmsian universe, but we are excited to have him involved.
